Radiotherapy

It is a cancer treatment that uses doses of radiation to kill cancer cells and shrink tumors. It consists of providing a specific number of sessions to reach a full dose with the aim of controlling or curing the disease. It can be used as a stand-alone treatment or in combination with other treatments such as cancer surgery and chemotherapy. In our treatment center we have a Halcyon linear accelerator, in its most recent version in the entire region, which allows us to provide treatments more quickly and accurately in an average of 2 – 5 min per session, allowing you to spend only a few minutes a day for your treatment, and then you can continue with your daily routine.

The most used techniques are intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), volumetric arc intensity modulated radiotherapy (VMAT) and image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT), which are standard worldwide and the most innovative in Central America.

Radiation oncologists are the specialists in providing our treatments and work hand in hand with medical physicists and imaging graduates trained in the area of radiation therapy. Radiotherapy requires careful planning, so we guarantee that the radiation is directed directly at the tumor, reducing the impact on healthy tissue and therefore the side effects it may cause.
